There are a range of specialist charitable organisations working with children who like all professionals working with children and families have safeguarding responsibilities. All too often safeguarding training does not take account of their unique position and the very specific issues associated with disability or a diagnosis of cancer for example.
Other staff working in the voluntary sector have very specialist roles which throw up unique challenges and face difficulties their counterparts in the statutory sector do not routinely face. For example working in a secondary setting or as part of a medical led multi-disciplinary team.
Such staff benefit from tailor made training which can address issues of relevance to them in their setting.
